You're so Zeitgeist, May 2008

Just seen Funny Games, which was really disturbing but convinced me that Michael Pitt is an absolute ICON. He would definitely be my choice in the 'who would you like to play you in a movie of your life?' stakes. He's a peach. Sadly Mollie Sugden might be more apt as I approach the big 4-Oh-No.

Pitt's tennis whites were also totally of the moment. Genius even. Not to mention the ultimate-Shoreditch-boy haircuts of him and the other psycho lead. Fashion and psychosis - my favourite heady mix.

My other top cultural tip is the Edgar Allen Poe-inspired show You Dig the Tunnel, I'll Hide the Soil being held jointly at White Cube N1 and the ultra-spooky basement of Shoreditch Town Hall (one of the coolest venues in London - totally NYC and not even in NY). It kinda reminded me of the show Strange Powers I saw last year in a haunted building in The East Village. But not as scary. Scary is a trend, spotters. Nice is like SO last century.

Zeitgeist Top Ten

1. Michael Pitt in Funny Games
2. Michael Pitt in anything
3. Deck shoes, preferably by non-fashion brands
4. Woody Allen/Morrissey glasses, approaching overkill. Non-prescrip, obviously.
5. Claude Von Stroke's mix of Poxymusic's Warpaint
6. Tasseled loafers
7. Cricket sweaters
8. Yeasayer/MGMT, mental psychedelia
9. Gearing up for the summer festivals, Lovebox, Bestival etcetera
10. Stuffed crows
